A child on a skateboard was struck by a neighbor's car in a Tierrasanta cul-de-sac Wednesday evening, police confirmed.
The incident happened just after 6 p.m. on Bordelon Street. The child, who police say is between seven and eight years old, was riding a skateboard on the street on his belly when a neighbor accidentally hit the child with his pickup truck.
The child sustained a broken leg and was taken to Rady Children’s Hospital. Police say the child was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Police say the driver, who lives in the same neighborhood as the child, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
