Homicide detectives are investigating an overnight stabbing in San Diego’s Skyline area that left one man dead and another seriously injured.

According to the San Diego Police Department, patrol officers were called to a report of a stabbing around 11:40 p.m. in the 100 block of Coolwater Drive.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered two male victims – ages 36 and 45 – suffering from stab wounds.

Police say the 45-year-old man was taken to a local hospital with non-life wounds, while the 36-year-old victim was unconscious, lying in the driveway of a home.

Responding officers administered CPR while waiting for paramedics to arrive. Despite lifesaving efforts, police say the man died at the scene.

The names of the stabbing victims have not been released.

Officials from the SDPD say a 32-year-old man was detained by officers a short distance away. He is being interviewed by homicide investigators as a person of interest in the fatal stabbing.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information on this case should call the SDPD homicide unit at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers (888) 580-8477.
