A man turned himself in to authorities on Monday in connection to a homicide investigation in Encanto, the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) announced.

Miguel Ramos, 20, turned himself into the SDPD Homicide Detectives at the San Diego Police Headquarters Monday.

He is suspected of allegedly stabbing 44-year old Robert Acevedo of Lemon Grove. Officers found Acevedo early Sunday morning after a witness reported the stabbing to police at approximately 12:28 p.m.

He was found on the 1000 block of Evelyn Street with stab wounds to his torso. When officers arrived on scene, a witness was performing CPR on Acevedo.

Officers took over CPR and medics who later arrived continued life-saving measures but Acevedo was pronounced dead on scene.

Witnesses told police they heard an argument and went outside to investigate when they saw two men fighting. One of the men fled the scene. When residents further investigated, they found a victim lying on the ground and called police.

According to detectives, Ramos and Acevedo knew each and had an ongoing despute before their fight on Sunday morning.

Ramos was booked into San Diego County Jail.

The incident is under investigation. Anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to call the San Diego Police Department’s Homicide Unit or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.

Thick smoke from a small trailer fire at the San Diego Naval Medical Center could be seen for miles around Balboa Park, Federal Fire Department officials said.

A car with an attached trailer caught fire shortly after 1 p.m. Monday on the 34800 block of Bob Wilson Drive in San Diego, according to federal fire officials.

Everyone inside the trailer got out safely, officials said.

Officials did not request extra help from San Diego Police. One San Diego Fire-Rescue crew was sent to the scene.

"No explosion and no police resources are needed," San Diego Police said in a tweet.

Popping sounds were likely from something inside the trailer, officials said.

Casino Grand Opening Causes Traffic Delays in Jamul

Traffic was at a standstill in the area near The Hollywood Casino in Jamul on Monday following the casino's grand opening.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) warned motorists of heavy traffic on the State Route 94 and State Route 54 junction, as well as between State Route 125 and Honey Springs Road. CHP officers were dispatched to the area to try and alleviate the traffic, which extended for several miles in all directions.

CHP issued an advisory to drivers to avoid Campo Road for the next six to eight hours.

Steele Canyon High School, located near the casino sent out a tweet warning students and staff of the traffic. According to Principal Don Hohimer, the school was heavily impacted by the casino opening--school buses could not get into the school Monday morning due to traffic.

“We’ve known this was coming for a long time and did everything we can to keep our young drivers safe,” Hohimer said. He added that the school has been consulting with students to be on alert for drunk drivers, especially with the upcoming Football game and Homecoming this Friday.

“We’ve already had a tough commute in the morning, so this is just making things worse," Hohimer said.

Frustrated parents waited in the long line of cars for hours to pick up their kids--a trip that usually took them minutes.

“Something that should take about a ten minute drive has taken an hour,” parent Laura Espinoza said.

Instead of sitting in her car for another hour of traffic, Espinoza said she pulled off Campo Road and waited for her son to walk the last mile to her.

“All the parents are having their kids walk all the way down the street on a dangerous road because we can't get to our kids,” she told NBC 7.

Richard St.Jean, General Manager for the casino, released a statement Monday evening regarding the traffic delays.

"High traffic volumes are common with grand openings, particularly with the excitement surrounding the newest and closest casino to downtown San Diego," St. Jean said.

The $490 million Hollywood Casino, located on Campo Road,  has been at the center of a battle between the Jamul Indian Village of California and the Jamul Action Committee (JAC) for years. Despite an lawsuit filed by JAC against the casino, a grand opening ceremony was held on Monday.

According to Glenn Revell, President of JAC, the lawsuits alleges that the Jamul Indian Village of California is not a federally recognized tribe and the casino is not built entirely on reservation land. Revell also told NBC 7 that the JAC had concerns about traffic and safety on the State Route 94.

A ruling on the federal lawsuits against the casino is not expected for at least six months.

Women Share Their Sexual Assault Stories After Trump Video

$

On Facebook and Twitter, on the phone and on the job, from living rooms to hair salons, Donald Trump's "Grab 'em by the p****" comment has unleashed a tsunami of stories from women sharing painful memories of sexual assaults.

Many of these women were grabbed by the genitals — exactly as Trump described doing — by men who fled or melted into a crowd. Some women were molested as children on a playground or school bus. Others were groped on a train or dance floor. They've told of attacks getting out of taxicabs, harassment in the workplace and rapes on college campuses. Many shared their experiences for the first time in the days since the video of Trump's comments aired, while others have been exorcising their demons for a long time on blogs or in therapy.

Whatever the forum, whatever their experience, one thing is for sure: A presidential candidate's boastful description of manhandling women's bodies has become a national conversation about sexual assault. Thousands of women have stood up to say, publicly and firsthand, "This happened to me!"

Jennifer McGraw, 35, of Cleveland, wrote a blog post Sunday about being molested as a child called "My Disposable Body" that began with these words: "It all started with a grab of the p****."

McGraw, who is also a rape survivor, said social media conversations about sex assaults "have blown up" because Trump's comments about groping made speaking out more urgent than ever.

"This is somebody who could be our president," she told The Associated Press. "I can't not talk about it at this point. There's too much at stake. I feel strong enough at this point in my life to share my story and share my truth. That's the only way people will heal."

From presidential candidate Gary Hart's sexual relationship with Donna Rice in the 1980s and Bill Clinton's affairs a decade later to Anthony Weiner's more recent sexting scandal, the sex lives of politicians have been in headlines. But never before has a U.S. candidate for president made comments boasting of sexually accosting women, characterized by Trump as "locker room talk." When asked by CNN's Anderson Cooper during Sunday's debate if he'd sexually assaulted women, Trump said he had not.

The national conversation about sexual assault is "a powerful thing," said Delilah Rumburg, CEO of the National Sexual Violence Resource Center in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

"We saw this in the last year with campus sexual assaults when many young women started coming forward and speaking their truths. This is a way for them to feel like they have some power back when they can tell those stories, to hold not only those who commit these crimes accountable but the systems as well. I know those survivors' voices can do much more than I ever could as an advocate."

Edith Bluhm, 48, of Nashville, Tennessee, says her friends' Facebook threads have been filled with harrowing stories of everything from date-rape to child molestation.

"I have had the experience of going into a crowd and someone has their hand inside my shirt," she said. "Or you're on a dance floor and some guy is grinding against you. Or I'm on a train and felt a hand up my skirt. It's not just about rape. There's all these things that women have endured, these violations of our bodies, that Trump says you can get away with.

"Somehow it's dismissed because it's fleeting," Bluhm added. "It's a hand and then it's gone. ...If I say, angrily, 'Some guy over there was just rubbing up against me, you might say, 'Oh gross,' and move on. But later why do I feel like I want to crawl out of my skin? ...It's completely wrong."

Alicia McCauley, 30, blogged about her experiences with sexual assault, from being grabbed between the legs as a child to being raped. Just recently, a New York City cab driver pinned and groped her as she got out of his taxi. She filed a complaint against him and discovered four other women had filed similar reports against the same driver.

"Hearing Trump say you can do anything you want, you can grab them by the p**** — I hate using the word 'triggering' but it felt very reminiscent of all the traumas I have experienced," she said. McCauley said she told relatives that "if they voted for Trump, I would see it as personal, saying it's OK to do these things to women. They are agreeing with rape culture and agreeing with male entitlement."

McCauley said "the stories have always been there," but they're "pouring out now" because the outrage over Trump's comments "has created a space where people are finally agreeing with assault survivors."

Kimberly McDermott, 42, of Alexandria, Virginia, shared stories on Facebook and Twitter of being groped at a concert and sexually harassed by teachers and a boss. "I had no idea other friends had gone through so many similar experiences and had also been too embarrassed to speak up," McDermott said. "That was the case in almost every instance, and these were smart, outspoken women. We cannot go back to this behavior!"

Writer Kelly Oxford unleashed thousands of sex assault stories from women over the weekend by asking women to tweet her their assaults: "they aren't just stats. I'll go first: Old man on city bus grabs my 'p****' and smiles at me, I'm 12." Many responses were posted with the hashtag #NotOkay.

Among those who tweeted stories back to Oxford were friends of Spring Weaver, 33. "I felt really sad for my friends who were being triggered by the statements of a presidential candidate," said Weaver, who also recounted sitting in a hair salon in Chicago on Saturday where the sole topic of conversation among every stylist and customer was Trump's comments.

Then, Sunday night, watching the debate, Weaver said, "I found myself crying, tearing up. I was just so upset that there were no repercussions for him."

Maine Gov.: Trump Needs to Show 'Authoritarian Power'

Maine's governor says he's standing by embattled Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump after a series of controversies.

On WVOM radio Tuesday morning, Gov. Paul LePage said he would like to see Trump "show some authoritarian power" as president.

"Sometimes I wonder that our Constitution is not only broken, but we need a Donald Trump to show some authoritarian power in our country and bring back the rule of law because we've had eight years of a president, he's an autocrat, he just does it on his own, he ignores Congress and every single day, we're slipping into anarchy," LePage said.

The Republican governor also weighed in on the 2005 audio tape leaked late last week, in which Trump bragged on an "Access Hollywood" bus about grabbing women "by the p****."

"He is not my ideal guy I'd want my daughter going after," he said, but later added, "It's one thing to be in a locker room and talk, and it's another to be in the White House and do it."

The governor, who is no stranger to his own controversies, ended the interview by calling Trump a "breath of fresh air."

Giants Beat Cubs in Extra-Innings Thriller to Force Game 4

In the longest postseason game in the history of the Chicago Cubs, the San Francisco Giants ultimately won as Joe Panik hit a game-winning double in the bottom of the 13th inning to lead his team to a 6-5 victory on Monday night.

The Cubs' offense was in for a big challenge against Madison Bumgarner on Monday, but they got an early scoring chance thanks to a double by Kris Bryant. Bryant moved to third on a groundout by Anthony Rizzo, but a strikeout by Jorge Soler ended the threat.

Jake Arrieta responded to Bumgarner's inning with a strong one of his own, as he racked up three strikeouts in the bottom of the frame. He did allow a single to Buster Posey, but he erased it by punching out Hunter Pence to end the inning.

After Addison Russell and Javier Baez both reached base after lengthy at-bats, Arrieta helped his own cause. On a two-strike count, the pitcher blasted a three-run home run over the left field wall to give the Cubs a 3-0 lead.

The Cubs stranded a pair of runners in the top of the third inning, and the Giants took advantage as they got on the board in the bottom of the frame. Denard Span smacked a double into the right field corner, and Posey chased him home with an RBI single up the middle to make it a 3-1 game.

Arrieta was able to get out of the inning, inducing a long flyout from Pence to end the frame and keep the Cubs in front.

As the bottom of the fifth inning got underway, the Giants got a huge one-out triple from Span, and they trimmed even more off of the Cubs' lead. Brandon Belt socked a deep fly ball to right field, and although Ben Zobrist was able to haul it in, Span scored to cut Chicago's lead to 3-2.

After the sacrifice fly, Posey reached first on another sharp single up the middle, and Pence then slashed a drive to right field, but Zobrist caught it and kept the Cubs in front.

The Cubs had an opportunity to extend their lead in the sixth inning as they had Baez on second base with one out, but they couldn't come through. Arrieta lined out hard to left field, and then Fowler struck out to end the inning and keep it a one-run game.

After Arrieta worked a one-two-three sixth inning, Pedro Strop came in to work in the bottom of the seventh. He got two quick outs, and then Travis Wood induced a flyout from Span to end the inning and keep the Cubs in front.

The bullpen magic ran out in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Giants took the lead. After Wood gave up a lead-off single, Hector Rondon walked Posey, and although Aroldis Chapman was able to strike out Pence, the Giants had one more ace up their sleeve.

Conor Gillaspie once again played hero for the Giants, blasting a triple deep into the right-center field gap to score two runs and give San Francisco their first lead of the series.

Brandon Crawford then extended the lead as he drove in Gillaspie with an RBI single off of Chapman to make it a 5-3 game.

The Giants' bullpen blew a ton of saves in the regular season, and they did it again in the top of the ninth inning. After Sergio Romo walked Fowler to lead off the inning, Bryant snuck a two-run home run over the left field wall and knotted the game at 5-5.

Mike Montgomery came into the game and got the first out of the inning, but with Belt on first base, he allowed a deep fly ball to Posey. Fortunately for the Cubs, Albert Almora Jr. made a diving catch and doubled Belt off at first base to end the inning and force extra innings.

The two teams exchanged zeroes in the 10th inning, and the 11th inning proceeded in a similar fashion. Bryant struck out to end the top of the frame, but there was a bit more drama in the 11th. Joe Panik reached second base on a sacrifice bunt, but he was stranded as Montgomery got two outs and retired the Giants in the frame.

In the bottom of the 13th, the Giants finally took home the victory. After Brandon Crawford led off the frame with a double, Panik drilled a shot to right-center field, and when it bounced off the wall, Crawford scored and gave his team a victory.

The Cubs will have another chance to clinch the series on Tuesday night when they take on the Giants again at AT&T Park. John Lackey will get the start for the Cubs, and first pitch is scheduled for 7:08 p.m.

Khan Responds to Trump's Debate

Khizr Khan, the father of fallen Gold Star recipient U.S. Army Capt. Humayun Khan, said Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's use of his son's name during Sunday's debate was "disgraceful."

During the town hall debate in St. Louis, Trump said if he were president, Humayun Khan would still be alive because he would not have had troops in Iraq. The comment came during discussion about Islamophobia during the debate with Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

Khizr Khan and his wife, Ghazala, were speakers during the Democratic National Convention and lashed out at the GOP candidate for invoking their son's death during the debate.

"Disgraceful comment. It is total no empathy, not only for Capt. Humayun Khan. He died for a purpose," Khizr Khan told News4. "For this candidate to say, 'Had I been the president, they would be alive,' is such a disgrace."

The Khans issued a statement to NBC News on Monday, saying, "We know that our son, Captain Humayun Khan, is an American hero. We also know that Donald Trump is not telling the truth when he says he was against the Iraq war. Our son served this country with honor and distinction, and gave the ultimate sacrifice. The only thing that Donald Trump sacrifices is the truth."

Capt. Humayun Khan was deployed in Iraq and died in 2004. He was from Silver Spring, Maryland.

Christie: Trump Tape 'Indefensible,' But I Still Back Him

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says he was "really disturbed" by the predatory comments Donald Trump made about women a decade ago, but he is still supporting the Republican nominee for president.

Christie had been mum on the matter since the video was released late last week, but broke his silence Tuesday as he co-hosted WFAN's "Boomer & Carton" sports radio show with Craig Carton.

"It's completely indefensible and I won't defend it and haven't defended it," Christie said. "That kind of talk and conversation even in private is just unacceptable."

The Republican governor revealed he was with Trump when Trump found out about the video leak. Christie said he does not believe Trump's apology -- where the former reality television star referred to his past comments as "locker room banter" and said he was embarrassed by them -- was sufficient.

He acknowledged that the content of the video is "a little tough to explain" when you have kids and said it was not "immaterial" in deciding who to vote for, but that it should not be the only factor on Election Day.

"I'm really upset about what I heard but in the end this election is about bigger issues than that," Christie said. "I'm still supporting Donald. Obviously I was disappointed by what happened and disappointed in some respects by the response initially but I am still supporting him."

The issue of the video took center stage at Sunday's presidential debate, dominating social media discussion and overshadowing concerns about domestic policy and foreign relations.

Meanwhile, a reeling Republican party is struggling to deal with the backlash. Forty Republican senators and congressmen have revoked their support for Trump — with nearly 30 of them calling on him to quit the race altogether in recent days. Few were passionate Trump supporters to begin with, the last straw being the video in which the candidate denigrated women.

House Speaker Paul Ryan told fellow lawmakers on Monday he would not campaign for or defend the floundering businessman in the election's closing weeks. But the head of the Republican National Committee declared he was in full coordination with the embattled presidential nominee — opposing positions that highlight a political party increasingly battling itself as Election Day approaches.

Donald Trump's debate performance seems to have shored up his campaign somewhat, improving by two points but still trailing Hillary Clinton by nine points in the latest NBC News / Wall Street Journal poll.

Trump appeared to be in freefall after a 2005 recording was released Friday in which Trump is heard making sexually aggressive comments. That day, Trump chalked up the comments to "locker room banter" in an apology, but a poll conducted over the weekend had him down 11 points, NBC News reported.

The new poll was conducted after Sunday night's debate, and gives Clinton a 46-37 percent lead over Trump, with Johnson at eight percent and Jill Stein at two percent.

The data showed Trump's support among Republicans recovering after the debate, with the 74 percent saying they backed him in the latest data up from 67 in polling before the debate.

The American cities with the healthiest, happiest residents are Boston, San Francisco, Chicago, New York and Washington, D.C., according to a new survey that scored communities on important health measures, NBC News reported.

While they may not shriek "healthy living," they all have lots of sidewalks, parks and good public transportation, a report from Gallup and Healthways found. The four key components the group identified are walkability, easy biking, parks and public transit.

"Residents in these top five communities have, on average, significantly lower rates of smoking, obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and depression compared with those in the five lowest-ranked active living communities," the groups said in a statement, adding to a large body of research that's found that access to green spaces, lowered stress and other factors translate into lower rates of disease and longer lives.

The six-month manhunt for the attacker accused of fatally shooting a Marine outside a nightclub led to an arrest over the weekend in Tijuana, Mexico.

Arturo Perez Medina, 22, was taken into custody after he was found hiding at a residence in Tijuana, according to the San Bernardino Police Department. Perez Medina, a U.S. citizen, was turned over to San Bernardino police Sunday and booked on suspicion of murder in the shooting death of Pfc. Douglas Rauda.

Rauda, 20, was shot and killed April 17 in the parking lot of Flesh Nightclub. Rauda, based at Twentynine Palms in San Bernardino County, was serving as the designated driver for a group of friends, according to police.

He was waiting for his friends in a car outside the nightclub when he was shot. Authorities have not provided details about a motive.

Investigators said there did not appear to be an altercation between Rauda and his assailants before the shooting.

Four suspects were identifed in connection with the shooting. Three men were arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder, but the search continued for the suspected gunman until the weekend arrest.

All four suspects were identified as gang members, according to police.

"We again thank our allied partner agencies who assisted in this investigation and hope in some way this brings some peace and closure to Pfc. Rauda’s friends and family, as well as to his Marine Corp family," San Bernardino police said in a statement.
