A Martin Luther King Jr. mural on SR-94 was vandalized, authorities said Friday.
The memorial on the side of the freeway was discovered with graffiti spray painted across it Friday morning, according to officials with CalTrans.
The highway that stretches across the Southeast area of San Diego County is named after the civil rights leader.
CalTrans believes the vandalization occurred Thursday night.
Anyone with information on a suspect is urged to contact CHP.
