A car driven by a 19-year-old man in San Marcos crashed into a center divide before rolling to a stop early Friday morning.

At about 2:40 a.m., sheriff's deputies said the man was driving his SUV westward down Barham Drive, just west of Campus Way, when he struck a raised center median, then a cement pillar.

The impact of the collision knocked the cement pillar off its base, according to a statement from the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

The car then rolled at least one time to a stop in the westbound lane of Barham Drive. The drive was conscious but had to be transported to the hospital.

Medics determined his injuries were non-life threatening.

It is not known at this time if drugs or alcohol were involved.

Traffic deputies are investigating the crash.
