A water main break in Oceanside created a sinkhole so large that it trapped a city bus.
The large water main broke on Los Arbolitos Boulevard and Fredericks Avenue after 6 a.m., according to the Oceanside Police Department.
Water filled the roadway and created major flooding. That, in addition to the morning rain created hazardous conditions.
As a result, a sinkhole opened up nearby, trapping a North County Transit District bus on Los Arbolitos Boulevard. Other than the bus driver, no one was inside the bus when its front wheels sunk into the hole.
A tow truck pulled the bus out shortly after it became stuck.
Water was still bubbling out as crews were working to repair the pipe. The roadway was blocked off due to the large amount of water.
More than 300 residents were without water in the afternoon following the main break. The Oceanside Water Department provided water for those residents.
