Wednesday’s weather is cool, cloudy and windy with some rain sprinkled throughout the day.

Though much of the rain on Wednesday was experienced in areas north of San Diego, a small storm blew the region in the morning, according to NBC 7 meteorologist Whitney Southwick.

Most of the rain had moved east along I-8 by the afternoon. By the evening, the rain could stick around but expect another chilly December night, Southwick said.

Mountains saw some light powder and low temperatures. San Diego’s coast experienced morning showers and temperatures in the 60s, as did the desert areas. Inland, temperatures were a little lower with morning rain.

The morning rain caused problems in Oceanside, where a water main broke. The flooded conditions trapped a bus, which ran into a sink hole on one major roadway in the city.

A wind advisory was in effect for most of southern California. In San Diego, the advisory is expected to last until 10 p.m. Wednesday. Winds could reach up to 60 miles per hour in the mountains and 30 miles per hour in other areas.

The strongest winds are expected in the afternoon.

The weather in San Diego was nothing compared to conditions across the country. A major storm system dumped snow and sleet on the nation's midsection, slowing holiday travel and posing a risk to those in affected areas.

About 50 flights out of San Diego were delayed due to the weather.
