A total of 27 suspects with outstanding warrants were arrested Saturday after officials from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department conducted a warrant sweep in the North County and South Bay.

The 6 a.m. sweep was spearheaded by the Court Services Bureau-Field Division and spanned the cities of Vista, San Marcos, Oceanside, Encinitas, National City, Chula Vista and Imperial Beach.

Officials were looking for suspects with outstanding misdemeanor and felony DUI or domestic violence-related warrants.

In all, 27 suspects were apprehended and 36 warrants were cleared. One female suspect was also charged with possession of methamphetamine, officials said.

Earlier this month, another similar warrant sweep resulted in 20 arrests.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department says people with outstanding warrants are highly encouraged to turn themselves in. That can be done Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at any Sheriff’s Court facility.
