Two of the suspects in a violent bank holdup earlier this week were arraigned Friday afternoon and given high bail amounts.
The robbery took place on Tuesday at a Wells Fargo Bank branch in University City. One of the three suspects, 27-year-old Casey Wilson, was shot in the cheek and arm by a security guard who bashed an accomplice in the head with his gun. He wound up in custody, and was treated at a hospital.
Wilson, who suffered the gunshot wounds, was arraigned at bedside in Sharp Hospital, where the getaway driver had dropped him off after Wilson ran away from the bank.
Wilson's bail was set at $250,000. He faces up to seven years in prison if convicted of Tuesday's robbery,ʚuse of a weapon, and "aiding in abetting" in a May 7 holdup.
He entered a not guilty plea and denied the allegations.
But prosecutors said the other suspect, 42-year-old Laura Joyce Elshire, "admitted to the crime" at the scene. She also has two prior convictions for robbery and attempted murder from 1997, making her eligible for a sentence of 30 years to life.
The judge set her bail at $100,000.
According to investigators, Wilson was shot after triggering a taser in the security guard's direction.
The suspected driver in the heist, identified as 28-year-old Robert Hodge, also known as Bobby Volk, was driving a 4-door, teal green, 1999 Honda Civic. He is still at large.
Authorities say Hodge had robbed the same University City bank branch on May 7.
