The wing of a private jet slammed into empty offices inside a hangar at an airport in Chino Thursday evening, according to the FAA.
A spokesman for the FAA said a Challenger jet collided with a hangar at the Encore Jet Center (map) in the 8300 block of Kimball Avenue. There were no reports of injuries, Ian Gregor said.
Mechanics were inspecting the jet's twin engines by running it for several hours, officials said. Suddenly, the million-dollar jet skipped over the devices that hold its wheels in place and skidded into a business that rents space in the airport hangar.
The offices were empty at the time of the crash. They closed shortly before the jet slammed into the building.
Three maintance workers were inside the airliner, unable to stop the runaway plane. None of them were hurt.
