A Toyota pickup truck was trapped on Wednesday morning after a driver crashed between two palm trees.
The incident happened around 8 a.m. on southbound Interstate 5 near state Route 94. The driver's car was wedged between the trees after crashing off the highway. One of the trees then fell on the road preventing the driver from backing up, according to California Highway Patrol.
San Diego Fire Department firefighters pulled the vehicle out and a SigAlert was issued for two hours while crews cleaned up the area.
The driver sustained major injuries, according to CHP.
