A baby was born along the side of Interstate 8 on Wednesday morning, according to officials.
Around 4 a.m. the woman made an emergency stop on the right shoulder where she delivered the baby in the front seat of the car. Another woman was driving during the situation, but their relationship is unknown.
Lakeside firefighters and California Highway Patrol officers rushed to the scene to find that the woman had already delivered the baby.
The baby was wrapped in a blanket and brought into the ambulance and the mother followed on a stretcher.
Officials said the mother and baby were then transported to Grossmont Hospital in good condition.
