A body has washed ashore near Tourmaline Beach, an area where lifeguards searched for a missing surfer in Pacific Beach Wednesday night.
According to officials, at around 7:40 p.m. lifeguards began searching for an unknown missing swimmer or surfer in the waters of Tourmaline Surf Park in the 5100 block of La Jolla Boulevard.
Lifeguards say an unattended surf board was found in the water, approximately 250 yards out from the shore.
Officials searched the area from the shore and by boat overnight. A San Diego Fire-Rescue helicopter also helped in the search.
Around 4 a.m., a resident reported a body had washed ashore near Tourmaline Beach north of Pacific Beach.
The county's medical examiner has arrived to the scene in the hopes of identifying the body. There has been no confirmation the body is that of the surfer reported missing hours ago.
