A fire broke out in a Clairemont home Tuesday afternoon, displacing seven people, according to fire officials.
The fire started just after 4 p.m. in the 3200 block of Ashford Street, and was knocked down shortly after crews arrived.
Firefighters responded, and could see smoke and flames upon arrival. They had to cut through bars on the windows and doors of the house to access the inside.
There was a moment of panic when a mother thought her son was inside the home. However, after searching the home firefighters found no one inside the home.
Firefighters believe the fire started in an outside portion of the home but they are still investigating.
Earlier reports from the fire department stated nine people were displaced. The department has since revised that number.
