The Escondido Police Department’s acting police chief has announced plans to retire from the force in a few months, the office of the City of Escondido confirmed Thursday.
Acting Police Chief Cory Moles is set to retire this July after serving nearly 27 years with the Escondido Police Department. His official last day will be July 5.
Chief Moles began his career with the Escondido PD in July 1986 as a police officer trainee. He eventually rose in the ranks and became Assistant Police Chief in Dece,ber 2007.
On Thursday, Chief Moles released the following statement regarding his upcoming retirement:
“I’ve had an incredible career with the Escondido Police Department. It’s been both an honor and privilege to work with so many talented individuals at the Police Department, in San Diego County law enforcement, on the city staff and in the community. It has truly been a remarkable experience!”
The city office says a replacement for Chief Moles has not yet been named by City Manager Clay Phillips.
