Viral Video Shows Heartbreaking Reality of ALS

$

It starts off hilarious: A jocular guy in a bikini challenging Ellen DeGeneres and Miley Cyrus to the Ice Bucket Challenge.

Then, it gets personal, real and heartbreaking.

Anthony Carbajal, a Murrieta native and owner of a Temecula wedding photography business, shares in a new YouTube video about a family history of ALS and how he was diagnosed with the debilitating disease earlier this year at age 26.

“I hate talking about it. That’s probably why no one talks it. Because it’s so challenging to watch,” Carbajal says in the video. “No one wants to talk about it. They don’t want it to ruin their day.”

His YouTube video has reached more than four million views in just three days and has been spotlighted by Time, BuzzFeed and The Huffington Post among other media outlets.

The video is a challenge to naysayers of the ubiquitous ALS Ice Bucket Challenge -- those who express annoyance that the craze is filling up their Facebook newsfeeds.

“I promise your newsfeed will go back to cat videos and ‘Let it Go’ covers,” he says. “But now for once the ALS community has the main spotlight. And for once in my entire life I’ve seen it in the forefront.”

“Eventually I won’t be able to walk, talk and breathe on my own,” he says. “And that’s the real truth of what ALS is.”

Since the ice bucket challenge took over the Internet, the ALS Association has received $41.8 million in donations from July 29 to Thursday. That's compared to $2.1 million in the same time period last year.

You can watch the video here (Warning: It contains some profanity):

His YouTube video also drew the attention of Ellen DeGeneres, who accepted his challenged and tweeted this morning:

A man wanted for multiple counts of child molestation in Indiana was arrested on a boat in San Diego’s Mission Bay area Wednesday night, officials from the U.S. Marshals Service confirmed.

Timothy Faudree, 57, was taken into custody on the water by officials from the San Diego Fugitive Task Force and San Diego Harbor Police.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, investigators had developed information that Faudree was living on a sail boat and traveling throughout the waterways of San Diego County to avoid detection.

An arrest warrant was issued for Faudree from The Marion County Sheriff’s Department in Indiana on Aug. 1 for multiple counts of child molestation and sexual intercourse with a child under 14. He fled the state and for the past three weeks, Indiana officials had been unable to locate him.

He was considered armed and dangerous.

The U.S. Marshals Service said Faudree has an extensive criminal history in five states and has been previously arrested for production of marijuana, burglary, aggravated assault and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officials said the fugitive was taken into custody without incident and booked into San Diego Central Jail. He was expected to appear in court Thursday in San Diego.

On his Facebook page, Faudree states he is from Beech Grove, Ind., but is currently living in San Diego.

Protesters Demand "Drone-Free LAPD"

Protesters gathered outside LA's city hall Thursday morning, chanting "drone-free LAPD" to demand a halt to what they called an LAPD plan to use drones to spy on citizens.

Demonstrators from the Stop LAPD Spying Coalition pushed up against the City Hall entrance, trying to get a meeting with LA Mayor Eric Garcetti over two silent, camera-equipped drones the police department has recently acquired.

"What's going to happen when they have a drone that you can't ever hear is around, that can come into close radius?" protester Jamie Garcia said. "What are they going to do with this data? They haven't told us."

LAPD got the state-of-the-art Draganflyer X-6 drones for free from the Seattle Police Department in May. Civil rights activists on Thursday said Seattle residents' protests over drone testing in their city got their mayor involved to stop the drone use. They hope they can get Garcetti to do the same.

LAPD spokesman Bruce Borihahn said a federal agency is storing the drones. He said he doesn't know the drones' capabilities.

"We're not even in possession of these things," Borihahn said.

Police will not use the drones in LA before a "lengthy approval process" by the civilian police commission, LAPD Chief Charlie Beck and civil rights groups, Borihahn said.

Protesters said the Draganflyer website and videos posted by other police departments using the drones around the country show the devices are small, indetectable and much less expensive than the manned helicopters currently used by the LAPD.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California applauded the department's transparency about receiving the tool, but questioned whether its use outweighs the potential for invasion of privacy, Hector Villagra, the executive director of the ACLU of Southern California, said in a statement in June.

Beck has promised the public the drones would only be used in tactical situations such as manhunts and standoffs.

"The Los Angeles Police Department will never, ever give up public confidence for a piece of police equipment," he said in June.

Eating Healthy Seafood Has Its Limits

We've all been advised to eat more seafood.  By most accounts, fish is a great choice.  It's a low-fat source of protein with promises of improving your heart and health.

However, while some say seafood can help a baby's brain development in the womb, pregnant mothers need to be cautious.

According to Consumer Reports and other researchers, some seafood contains high levels of a form of mercury called methylmercury.

"Mercury can damage the brain and it can damage the nervous system, especially when that exposure occurs in the womb," said Dr. Michael Crupain with Consumer Reports.

New government guidelines encourage women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to become pregnant to eat between 8 and 12 ounces of fish per week.  They even suggest a minimum quota for young children.

But Consumer Reports says pregnant women and children should avoid fish like tuna that are high in mercury.  Consumer Reports' food-safety experts say tuna accounts for 40 percent of our mercury exposure, most of that from canned tuna.

"To be safe, Consumer Reports recommends that pregnant women not eat any tuna at all," Crupain said. "Children and anyone who eats a lot of fish should really limit the amount of tuna they eat."

Other fish with high mercury levels are swordfish, shark, king mackerel and tilefish from the Gulf of Mexico.

So what are alternatives for people who want more fish in their diet?  Consumer Reports recommends fish like wild Alaskan salmon, shrimp, sardines, tilapia, scallops, oysters and squid.

Woman Saves Dog in SoCal Traffic

A woman who braved getting out of her car during rush-hour traffic on Thursday rescued a pooch wandering a Southern California freeway.

Just after 6 p.m. a black dog could be seen zigging and zagging into lanes of the Long Beach (710) Freeway near Atlantic Avenue, causing motorists to slow down and try to corral the pooch.

At one point, a motorcyclist rode next to the dog, ushering it to the shoulder of the freeway.

The dog was in the far left lane of the freeway, dodging vehicles as it crossed to the shoulder.

Motorists turned on their emergency lights, working like a mobile fence, to keep the pooch corralled on the side of the freeway.

Andie Valerio pulled her car over and was able to rescue the dog, that had climbed an embankment.

"I turned my hazards on and I made sure she was kind of going towards the shoulder," Valerio said.

The female dog was scooped up by Valerio. The dog was wearing a collar, but did not have any tags.

"She's super sweet," Valerio said. "I was sitting with her the whole time and she just licked me and she was just sitting there on the floor, calm."

After Valerio coaxed the dog into her arms and got her off the freeway, she was turned over to the local animal shelter, which will assist in locating the owner or someone to adopt the dog.

Ross Outdueled by Kershaw as Dodgers Take Series

For seven innings, Tyson Ross matched Dodgers ace an Cy Young candidate Clayton Kershaw pitch for pitch on Thursday night.

He allowed just two hits, striking out six while shutting out the Los Angeles lineup.

That all disappeared with just two swings of the bat. A Carl Crawford leadoff single in the eighth was followed by a Justin Turner homer to left field and suddenly the host Dodgers had a 2-1 lead they would not relinquish.

Ross finished with eight Ks against just two walks, but it wasn’t enough to top Kershaw’s eight innings of three-hit ball, punctuated by 10 strikeouts of his own. Kershaw didn’t allow a hit until the sixth inning – coincidentally off the bat of Ross.

The lone Padres run came on a Rene Rivera single in the seventh that scored Abraham Almonte.

The loss is a bitter pill as the Padres drop the series despite pounding out 25 hits in the previous two games. It drops them 11 ½ games behind the first-place Dodgers and eight games out of the wild card race.

They head to Arizona for a three-game series with the Diamondbacks this weekend.

Balboa Park Sex Assault Case Declared Mistrial

A judge has declared a mistrial in the case of a man accused of trying to sexually assault a woman on a Balboa Park trail.

A jury could not unanimously decide if Ameen Ali Bryant, 21, is guilty of assault with intent to commit rape. Jurors became deadlocked 8-4 Thursday as they deliberated the case, leading to the mistrial.

Bryant faced the charges for an attack on Jan. 14, when he grabbed a woman walking along Bridle Trail, put his hands on her skin and forced her to the ground in broad daylight, the victim told the jury.

She believes Bryant intended to rape her.

"I was thinking to myself that I need to turn around or else it's going to be all over," she said describing how she began fighting the attacker who at that time was sitting on her hips.

However, Bryant told the court he attacked her not to sexually assault her, but to steal her cell phone.

He said he only grabbed the victim because she tried to fight back. “Other than that, it would’ve never happened,” Bryant said.

His defense attorney told the court when the woman screamed rape, his client “freaked out” and tried to stuff dirt in her face to distract her while he ran away.

When two passersby walked up the trail, Bryant took off. Police believe the witnesses scared him off.

Under cross-examination, the victim testified that the defendant did not say he wanted to rape her and did not touch private areas of her body.

The prosecutor said Bryant is a documented gang member with a prior strike for robbery in 2012. He’s currently on parole for that offense.

Dozens March for Michael Brown in San Diego

Shouting chants for justice, dozens of San Diegans took to the streets Thursday evening in a solidarity rally for Michael Brown, the unarmed black teen who was killed by a cop in Ferguson, Missouri.

The small crowd, made up of several activist groups, gathered in Balboa Park as the starting point for their walk to downtown. Many held signs that echoed the plea of thousands across the country since Brown's death: “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot.”

Through their march, they aimed to take a stand and demand officers be held accountable.

Local protesters say there have been countless unarmed men like Brown who have been shot and killed by police.

"It hasn't happened in San Diego yet, but if we let it go on in Ferguson, it could happen in San Diego. It could happen in D.C. It could happen in these places," said Marcelis Muriel. "So we're gonna protest it now so that it doesn't happen."

Protesters marched from the park onto Broadway, escorted by San Diego Police officers in bikes.

Their ultimate destination was the Hall of Justice. There, they chanted "Power to the people," "Hands up, don't shoot" and "Who's streets? Our streets." The crowd then fell silent as the names and ages of victims were read aloud.

One activist said he was there to protest the way militarized police have handled protesters in Missouri.

"There's no reason we should be having military equipment rolling through the streets of America. Violence breeds violence,” said Chris McKay.

But this peaceful demonstration proved to be a drastic difference from the tense, at times violent, protests that have rocked the St. Louis suburb of Ferguson for nearly two weeks.

Police and protesters have clashed since the unarmed Brown was fatally shot police officer Darren Wilson on Aug. 9. What started as peaceful protests dissolved into violent lootings, arrests and more shootings.

On Monday, Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon called in the National Guard when crowd control tactics and curfews failed to stop the unrest. He withdrew the guardsmen Thursday.

Police Save Newborn Baby

A 5-day-old New Jersey boy is in critical but stable condition after he stopped breathing suddenly over the weekend, possibly because of a bacterial infection, his parents say.

The boy's grandmother called 911 Saturday afternoon to report the Hopatcong infant appeared jaundiced and "non-reactive," while the child's mother, Andrea Suarez, frantically tried to revive little Maddox.

Suarez said it seemed like a minute later when "Hopatcong police literally kicked my front door open and just took him."

Officer Bob Haffner, who is also an EMT, told NBC 4 New York he couldn't find a pulse. Haffner began to perform CPR and then he and his colleague, Lt. Bob Unhoch, transferred the boy to an ambulance.

Police dispatchers in Hopatcong alerted dispatchers in nearby Roxbury to the emergency, and Roxbury police stationed officers at every intersection on Route 46 on the way to St. Claire's Hospital in Dover.

Maddox's parents say his condition has improved since he was admitted to the hospital, and that doctors are investigating whether he may have a bacterial infection.

Haffner says he was glad to help.

"It's one of those things where you go home that night and you think about it, and you go, 'It worked,'" he said.

Suarez said there are no words to describe her gratitude.

A California firm is recalling chicken Caesar salad kits sold at Sam's Clubs nationwide for possible listeria contamination.

APPA Fine Foods is recalling more than 92,500 pounds of fully-cooked chicken Caesar salad kit products, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Thursday.

The salad kits were shipped nationwide and sold at Sam's Clubs' in-store cafes according to the USDA.

The following products are subject to recall were in 11oz. clear plastic containers and 6.5-lb. boxes labeled, "APPA Fine Foods/Sam’s Club Daily Chef CHICKEN CAESAR SALAD KIT" with case codes 141851, 141922, 141951, 141991, 142021, 142201 or 142131 with use by dates of 8/14/14, 8/21/14, 8/27/14, 9/1/14, 9/3/14 or 9/17/14. The USDA's FSIS and the company said there have been no reports of illnesses, but anyone concerned about an illness should contact a healthcare provider.

Listeriosis can cause fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions sometimes preceded by diarrhea or other gastrointestinal symptoms. The invasive infection can spread beyond the gastrointestinal tract. In pregnant women, the infection can cause miscarriages, stillbirths, premature delivery or life-threatening infection of the newborn. In addition, serious and sometimes fatal infections in older adults and persons with weakened immune systems.

Listeriosis is treated with antibiotics.

Bolts Ready for 49ers Despite Turf Problems

Ground crews at Levi's Stadium are working feverishly to replace the damaged field in time for the 49ers preseason game against the San Diego Chargers on Sunday.

The turf at the new stadium was in bad enough shape on Wednesday for 49ers Coach Jim Harbaugh to cut practice short for safety reasons because players were falling while trying to run their routes.

San Diego Chargers Head Coach Mike McCoy said he expects a normal pregame routine Sunday.

“It’s no different than any other game we’re playing,” McCoy said Thursday.

Defensive coordinator John Pagano said there's been no discussion about the field conditions.

“Any type of new surface you’re going to want to bring enough amount of cleats to check the surface. We’ll do that before the game,” Pagano said.

Several fans noticed an issue with the field on Sunday when the 49ers hosted the Denver Broncos.

Season ticket holder Carol Rossi said she could see grass and divets flying from players' heels during the game.

"The grass would actually come up and they had people from the stadium going in there and putting their foot down, grass back in place," Rossi said.

In April, 49ers head groundskeeper Matt Greiner said he had high hopes for the bandera grass during an interview with NBC Bay Area.

"What we found is that the bandera can recover a little quicker," Greiner said at the time. "It keeps its color a little longer into the season and its lateral growth so the rise that make the network, the cleat plants in really holds up nicely through wear and traffic."

The grass was supposed to withstand the wear and tear of the entire season, but after just a couple of games the 2.5-acres of grass has become an issue.

Crews spent Thursday ripping out the field. Fans are worried and skeptical that the grass will be ready in time for Sunday's game.

"I think they should move the game to another field," Rossi said. "Hopefully no one gets injured."

The 49ers on Thursday declined to comment on the turf, but said in a statement they are looking forward to hosting the Chargers on Sunday, and that appropriate steps are being taken.

Calif. Woman Fined for Saving Water

A San Ramon homeowner is up in arms over being punished for her efforts to conserve water during California's severe drought.

Fran Paxson recently spent thousands of dollars transforming her front lawn by replacing what used to be dead grass with drought-tolerant landscaping. She now faces fines from the homeowners association, who said the changes to her property were not approved.

Paxson said she presented her plan twice to the homeowners association and got denied.

"The only real reason they could give me for denying the ground cover against lawn was that it would look better," Paxson said, who went ahead with plan anyway because she wanted to save water.

Paxson was told she will be fined $50 a month by the homeowners association until she replaced part of her front yard with grass.

"For all practical purposes I thought they should have applauded her," said Frank Mellon, a board director for East Bay Municipal Utilities District. "Yes, she should have followed the rules. But if she had done something really ugly, I think I could understand it a little bit. But I don't understand this."

EBMUD is giving Paxson a rebate for taking out her lawn, but she said that's not the reason she made the move.

"I feel it was the right thing to do, given the fact that we're in the drought," Paxson said.

The homeowners association did not return requests to comment on the issue. Paxson said a board member told her the association will take another vote on the matter.

Boater Safety Bill Passes

A bill aimed at improving safety on California waterways passed the state Senate Thursday and is headed to the Governor’s desk.

If signed, SB 941 will require all first time boaters to pass a boating education course before taking to the waterways.

The bill comes After an NBC Bay Area investigation uncovered that boaters who are distracted or inexperienced cause the majority of accidents in California.

Right now, California is one of only 5 states(Alaska, Arizona, South Dakota, and Wyoming) that doesn’t require boaters to take a safety course.

The bill was co-authored by Senators Senator Bill Monning (D-Carmel) and Senator Mark DeSaulnier (D-Concord). If enacted, the law will have a staggered implementation starting in 2018, and apply to operators under the age of 21. The law will apply to all boaters by 2025.

"Exemplary" Officer in Critical Condition After Shootout

A San Bernardino police officer was in critical condition "fighting for his life" on Friday after being shot by a man who was subsequently killed by the officer's trainee partner in a gun battle, officials said.

Gabriel Garcia, 31, the son of a San Bernardino police captain, was out of emergency surgery Friday morning, with his family at his side, San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan said.

"Not a lot of positive news on his prognosis," Burguan said.

Garcia was described as "exemplary in every sense of the word." Garcia, who has six years on the force, was recognized for his work with the San Bernardino Graffiti Task Force.

"Gabe is an outstanding officer, a great team member and a great man," Burguan said. "He has always displayed extreme professionalism and a great attitude towards his job, earning the utmost respect from fellow officers and the department as a whole."

Garcia was hit by bullets after 2 a.m. as he and his trainee partner pulled up to a group of about six people standing near a home in the 1900 block of North Garner Street.

The group had been at a nightclub and had been drinking alcohol, police said.

"Almost immediately, there were gunshots that rang out, and the first officer went down," police said in a statement.

The unidentified trainee officer, who had only been on patrol for about two months, got into a "protracted" gunbattle, the Police Chief said.

The suspected gunman, identified as Alex Alvarado, 38, was killed.

School police officers were the first ones to respond, but did not fire their weapons, police said.

Garcia was rushed to a hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. Garcia suffered two gunshot wounds to the upper body.

Burguan described Garcia as a very good police officer, who is well-respected by his peers and his supervisors.

"Has a great reputation for working hard and does very good police work," Jarrod said.

Police took five people into custody for questioning, despite earlier reports that six people were in custody.

Jonathan Contreras, 20, of San Bernardino, was arrested on suspicion of possession of an assault rifle and a sawed-off rifle, police said.

Orlando Cruz, 24, was arrested for unrelated traffic warrants.

The group was earlier described as a 30-year-old man, a 24-year-old man, a 19-year-old woman and an 18-year-old woman. All but the 18-year-old were San Bernardino residents, police said.

One person of interest who ran during the shooting, a 22-year-old San Bernardino man, was later found and taken into police custody.

Police said they recovered from the scene a revolver and an assault rifle with high-capacity magazines attached to it.

It is unclear which weapon was used to wound Garcia.

It is also unclear whether Garcia had fired any shots before being struck by gunfire.

It appeared there were at least 65 shell casings at the scene.

"We obviously had a pretty extensive scene. There were a lot of rounds at the scene," Burguan said.

Kevin LaBeach and Andrew Lopez contributed to this report.

Perry in NH: Charges All Politics

New Hampshire wasn't kind to Texas Governor Rick Perry back in 2012. He's hoping voters in the granite state will give him a fresh start as he considers another presidential bid in 2016.

On Friday, Governor Perry returned to New Hampshire for a series of GOP sponsored events.

He met with business leaders in Portsmouth and focused many of his remarks on border concerns and the growing threat of ISIS, even connecting the two by speculating members of ISIS could enter the U.S. through unsecured borders.

"ISIS has said we are coming to America and they are going to attack us, I take them at their word," said Gov. Rick Perry.

Governor Perry also addressed his recent indictment on coercion charges by a Texas grand jury. He called the charges politically motivated and said he will fight them with every fiber of his being.

He also acknowledged making mistakes in New Hampshire back in 2012, saying he didn't spend enough time in the state and wasn't as prepared as he would have liked.

Governor Perry will make several more stops in New Hampshire through Saturday.

Teen "Fire Challenge" Warning

Officials with the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety have issued a statewide emergency bulletin about a dangerous "fire challenge" teens are taking.

They are dousing their bare skin in flammable liquids, like alcohol, and lighting it on fire.

The teens are recording the acts and posting the videos on YouTube and Facebook. But the stunt has already resulted in serious injuries across the nation.

Derrick Robinson, an 11-year-old from the Miami-area, had to be hospitalized in a regional burn center after trying the challenge. He suffered burns to his torso, chest and shoulder and has to undergo weekly hospital visits as he heals.

“Do not do the burn challenge!” Robinson told our sister station NBC6 South Florida.

In Arkansas, a 14-year-old girl suffered second degree burns to 27 percent of her body after pouring nail polish remover on her skin and igniting it.

"I saw a lot of people do it, and I never saw anyone die from it," the girl, Monica Hamilton, told the NBC affiliate in Little Rock, Arkansas, as she discussed her motivation.

A mother in Charlotte, North Carolina, was arrested after police said she helped her 16-year-old son undertake the dangerous act.

While there haven't been any reported injuries to New Jersey teens, officials want everyone to be aware of how dangerous lighting yourself on fire is.

"I have seen some people who have died from burns. It's just devastating," said Frank Primavera, an official with the Hamilton Township, New Jersey, Fire Department.

Officials say that teens taking the challenge risk burns not only to their skin but also to their respiratory system, since they are inhaling the ignited vapors.

Primavera is hoping parents will talk with their kids to help put an end to the risky challenge.

"The adults need to speak with their teenagers and find out why they would even want to do something like this and explain to them how devastating burns can be. They're forever," he said.

Whole Foods Pulls Yogurt Over Sugar

Organic supermarket giant Whole Foods has removed a version of its store-brand yogurt from shelves after lawsuits were filed in local courts over the dairy product's sugar content.

A company spokesperson tells NBC10.com Friday that the Whole Foods 365 Everyday Value Nonfat Plain Greek Yogurt is not being sold as they investigate how much sugar is in each serving.

Two class-action lawsuits were filed earlier this month on behalf of Pennsylvania and New Jersey shoppers.

The suits were brought forth after testing by Consumer Reports found yogurt samples to contain six times the sugar content that was displayed on the nutrition label. The label said 2 grams of sugar was in one container of the product, but the group's analysis found 11.4 grams per serving.

The lawsuit alleges the supermarket knew the label was wrong, but continued to sell the product.

Whole Foods has declined to comment on the specifics of the case, but the spokesperson previously said they were working to determine the discrepancy between their test results and what Consumer Reports found.

Attorneys for the lawsuits are seeking $100 per plaintiff and could represent some 35,000 people. Should they win, the supermarket chain could be forced to pay $3.5 million.

The company spokesperson said several other Greek yogurt options remain stocked for customers in the meantime.

Sacramento Patient Tests Negative for Ebola

Health officials said Thursday a patient who was being tested for Ebola in Sacramento has tested negative for the virus.

There are currently no confirmed cases of the Ebola virus in California.

"We are pleased with the negative outcome of the Ebola test and wish the patient a speedy recovery," Dr. Ron Chapman, California Department of Public Health Director and state health officer, said in a statement. "The case in Sacramento County demonstrates that the system is working. This patient was quickly identified, appropriate infection control procedures were implemented, and public health authorities were notified."

State and federal officials earlier in the week said they will not divulge which West African country the patient traveled to or from in order to protect the individual's privacy.

Officials also said they will not be releasing the patient's identity, gender or whether the patient is an adult or minor.

On Tuesday, health officials announced that the patient who was admitted to a South Sacramento hospital may have been exposed to the Ebola virus. The Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento Medical Center worked with the Sacramento County Division of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to test blood samples from the patient.

Will Another Violent Predator Move to East County?

$

A 1,200-square-foot house in Campo could become home to a violent child predator, and East County residents say they’re worried for their safety.

Friday morning, a judge is scheduled to rule on the Department of State Hospitals’ proposal to move convicted predator Allen Fields, 58, into the three-bedroom, one-bathroom home on Custer Road.

Neighbors are furious, concerned the state is trying to turn Campo into a dumping ground for violent predators.

“If he moves in, I’ll be watching,” said neighbor Cindy Bieschewski, holding up two fingers to her eyes.

Fields spent 25 years in prison and more than ten years undergoing sex offender treatment for molesting four boys in the 1980s.

Even Fields’ voluntary surgical castration does not relieve neighbor’s concern.

“It doesn’t take away aggressiveness in animals,” said potential neighbor Jock Ogle. “It just keeps him from reproducing.”

A playground sits about a mile from where Fields could call home. Campo Elementary School is just 2.2 miles away.

“I feel for all the people with kids saying, ‘Please! Not here! Not here! Not here,” said Tagan Freeland.

With Fields possibly becoming Campo's newest resident and the state suggesting violent sex predator Douglass Badger move into the area, County Supervisor Dianne Jacob issued this statement:

"Here we go again. The state is trying to unload yet another monster on a peaceful, family-oriented community. Although this convicted pedophile may have been castrated, residents lose serious quality of life each time one of these predators is dumped in our communities."

If the judge approves the transfer, there is no word on how soon Fields could move in.
